Here I Come

Title Inspired by the song "Here I Come" by The Legendary Roots Crew [link] That song is one of my favorite songs of ALL TIME!!!!

Here's my first finished drawing of 2010 and what better way to kick the year off than to draw my flagship character, the beautiful, strong, and charismatic cyborg fighter/athlete turned superheroine Nikki Vetter aka "Diamond" in action! As you fans of Nikki know, she is now a resident of Angel Falls of where she's put her athletic and fighting careers aside to use her talents and abilities to help others as a superheroine. She is one of Angel Falls' greatest guardians and protectors from evil threats and such...with her state of the art cybernetic implants and replacements as well as the cyber-symbiote that is bonded to her body, whose full capabilities have yet to be determined, she has vowed to protect the citizens of Angel Falls and to be one of the greatest heroes ever to live. Thanks to the cybernetic hydraulic pumps in both of her legs and hips, she's running at a top speed of about 65 mph!!! Looks like she's speeding into the new year ready for any challenges that may come her way! I'll get back to the current storyline that I have her involved in soon...just wanted to get the first full pic of the year out of my system and wanted to make it a good one! You're gonna be seeing a lot of Diamond here in 2010 and will be getting to know her quite a bit more....I've got some pretty cool ideas that I want to implement with her!

I do have plans to show off Nikki's fighting skills more this year instead of just drawing her in stiff poses that aren't interesting and don't show off the fact that she's not just a hot chick, but she's a hot warrior chick! So I figured that I'd come out of the blocks with a dynamic shot of Nikki going full throttle!!! I tried a few things new here...been reading in my art technique/how to draw comics books lately and have been reading about stuff like composition, 3 point perspective, action lines, and using lines of action/a horizon line in attempts to vary how my scenes come out....that's why the background is at a tilt in this one! And I really tried to make this look like an actual exit on a highway. I actually did a better job of attempting to ink this one rather than just go over the lines with my coloring program...upon doing some research on how to make metal look shiny, I noticed that a lot of deep blacks are used for shadows, then a dark metal tone, then the flat tone, and then white for highlights. I also used a gaussian blur effect on her cyber-symbiote and that helped with the shiny look too! As for Nikki herself, I think that her face came out especially cute in this one! And her physique is perfect....the right blend of muscle and curve!!!!

Yes...I'm aware that she's running on the wrong side of the road! But she's a card carrying registered superheroine, so the AFPD will let her slide! For my fellow Angel Falls members....doesn't that exit sign look a little familar? Villains of Angel Falls beware....Diamond is here in Angel Falls and will do what it takes to save the day and keep the peace!
